How a Skateboard can Save Your Life (5)

Skateboard Snake and CityA few posts ago, I started a series about how skateboard deck art can be used as springboard opportunities to talk about God. I’ve been looking around the web for cool deck art and found a bunch. I’ve picked a few I thought would be interesting. Here’s another:

Snake and City on Fire

The snake looks devious. Like he’s started the fire. Or caused someone to burn the city.

What’s strange about this image is that if the snake in this image is in fact a representation of the devil, why would he burn a city? Why would the devil want to kill a bunch of people? Don’t you think he would rather mess with the people in the city?

Seems like the devil’s job is to make people either not believe in God, or at least not think about God. The devil distracts us with everything he’s got, so by burning the city, he would be killing off potential converts, don’t you think?

The devil’s job is easy, he just has to trick people and distract them. It’s not really difficult to choose against God. People are born without God, and then move toward Him through events in their lives.

You know, the devil was created as an angel. An angel is a servant. I guess the devil didn’t want to serve God, and turned from him and convinced a bunch of angels to go with him.

What’s interesting is that the devil is still a servant. Look at how he does things. He will tempt you where you are weak.

Remember Lord of the Rings when they were holding down Helm’s Deep? Some Orc’s snuck in through a culvert that let out a stream from inside Helm’s Deep and blew it up, which let in a bunch of Orc’s to attack from behind…and within.

This is the idea, that the devil will attack at a weak point. Knowing that, wouldn’t it be smart to fortify and fix and defend and heavily guard that weak spot?

So, what the devil meant for evil, we can use to know where we need to ask the Lord for help. So the devil is still a servant. His intentions turn us to God, well they could turn us to God. Sometimes we just end up wallowing in our guilt and failure that we miss the blessing.

I used to listen to the satanic Death Metal band Slayer. I even went to one of their concerts. At their concert, the lead singer yelled out “DO YOU WANT TO DIE?” and the crowd yelled back “YES!”. Then the lead singer looked confused and asked “Why?”

I thought that was really perceptive of that guy. Even as a satanist, he knew that the point wasn’t to die, the point was to live, just not live for God. Sure, they weren’t thinking of eternity and how that’s way longer than however long they’re going to live, but that’s not the point.

The point is that the devil can only tempt us, but we have a choice to let the bird build a nest on our head, or shoo it away.

Have a great day

What do you think?
1. Did the devil make you do it?
2. Do you know your weak point?
3. What’s on your deck?

  1. A skateboard graphic has nothing to do with god nor the devil. They are simply put on the deck to help make the guys in the suits a little extra money every month because teens rebel against established things like religion.

  2. That’s cool. I know they might not be put on the deck for any reason other than looking cool or making more money, that’s fine. It’s just something I use to start conversations.

Can you tell me why you are rebelling against religion? Personally I don’t think that’s a bad thing, rebelling against religion. I’m hoping what you mean be religion is church and stuff, but not God and Jesus.

If you are rebelling against Jesus and God, why? Did something happen to you? Did you read something that convinced you against God? What was it?

    Thanks for your comment.
